This road rehabilitation planning project will mitigate the impacts of forest development for Tweedsmuir-Entakio Caribou (TEC) by reducing predator prey interactions. Temporary resource roads not be involved in future extraction activities and without licensee obligations, are being identified for selected rehabilitation treatments. Rehabilitation treatments will focus on reducing road density, shortening sightlines, and impeding the ease of travel for predators, while ensuring the regeneration of timber and carbon values. This 2-year project will identify candidate roads and other disturbance features, engage with the Province, First Nations and forest licensees, create site specific treatment standards and preliminary restoration prescriptions.
