Ecosystem Restoration Community of Practice

Call for Speakers!
Aug 21, 2025

We are seeking practitioners who can speak to some of the following themes that are top of mind for our community of practice:

  • innovations in restoration permitting,
  • starting your own restoration business,
  • co-existing with beavers - from BDAs to pond levellers,
  • addressing drivers of moose and caribou population declines,
  • regulatory frameworks including the Ecologically-suitable species guideline,
  • seed collection and propagation for restoration,
  • silviculture standards and minimizing forestry's impacts,
  • huckleberries and/or cultural plant management techniques,
  • approaches to recovery monitoring, and
  • working with multiple ways of knowing, e.g, Indigenous and western sciences.

We're kicking off our webinar series in September, and re-convening as a whole community of practice in November.

Don't hesitate, and don't let the ol' Dunning-Kruger effect get in your head! We want to hear from you!

Our speaker series will convene three panelists to give short, 15-minute presentations on a theme followed by a 15-minute Q&A - think "lunch-and-learn" style meetings once a month.

We've also seen a huge demand for in-person workshops. Please let us know if you can host volunteers at your event, or if you can lead a workshop for the community of practice on the land or in the water where you work! We're all itching to get our hands dirty and gain experiential knowledge.
