Skeena Ecosystem Restoration Opportunities

Skeena Ecosystem Restoration Scoping Project

This project will identify, at a high-level, priority ecosystems that are degraded or at risk of becoming degraded and that have a high functional importance for wildlife and biodiversity in the Skeena Forest Region. This strategic scoping exercise will explore the need for ecosystem restoration (ER), identify priority ecosystems, determine the level of interest and support from the Province, First Nations, and other stakeholders in the Skeena Region. This project will provide a framework to explore the integration of ER into other land management activities and set broad direction for an ER program in the Skeena Region for the next two to five years. It is expected that the plan will provide ER practitioners, Provincial staff, First Nations, and other stakeholders with strategic information they need to coordinate effective ER programs in the region.
